Globalcom Ltd founder and managing director is Swiss-born Dr Jean-Luc Renaud. He has been involved in various aspects of the new media industry for over 25 years. After graduate studies at the universities of Lausanne and Geneva, he went to the United States where he spent seven years, earning a PhD in media economics from Michigan State University, teaching at the University of Minnesota and pursuing consulting activities.
Jean-Luc spent a year at the European Institute for the Media in Manchester where he co-authored The Future of the European Audiovisual Industry. He then joined Logica, the UK's largest independent IT company. There he worked on broadcast/media technology assignments and took an active part in Europe’s debate on advanced TV standard, MAC, digital television and video delivery over telecom networks. In 1991, he set up Globalcom Ltd, where he continues to carry out consultancy assignments and develop the company's publishing activities.
Tokyo-born Dr Megumi Komiya has been carrying out work in the areas of telecommunications, multimedia industries, IT and media policy for the past 20 years – in Japan and Europe as well as in the United States where she spent eight years, earning a doctorate, lecturing and consulting.
Megumi worked with international research and strategy company such as Kalba Bowen in the US and Putnam Hayes and Bartlett in the UK. Before joining Globalcom to oversee the research programme, she was Director of Strategy Research for six years at Nomura Research Institute Europe – the London-base subsidiary of Japan’s largest securities house.
Megumi has detailed knowledge of telecommunication technology, markets, regulation and finance, and recently carried out projects involving mobile contents, mobile TV, mobile advertising and mobile social networking.
