The aim of www.dvd-intelligence.com
is to provide information, knowledge and understanding of the DVD
industry across Europe. The material available throughout the site
comes from a variety of sources – from our in-house analysts,
commentators and correspondents, from material collected at conferences,
exhibitions and other events, and from a continuous programme of
browsing hundreds of websites. The ultimate goal is to offer a totally
independent one-stop shop of information relevant to professionals
active in the variety of facets of Europe's DVD industry.
www.dvd-intelligence.com is a commercial site, financed both by
advertising and subscription. The advertising-supported sections
are free to every user while a subscription is required to access
the site in full. Subscription-based sections are advertising-free.

by Globalcom Publications, a branch of Globalcom Limited, an independent
London-based company established by Dr Jean-Luc Renaud in 1991.
The company carries out research and consultancy assignments in
the new media, IT and telecom fields.
Globalcom Publications launched the highly-regarded Advanced
Television Markets industry newsletter in 1991. It
then joined the stable of the Financial Times's newsletter portofolio.
It has now been transformed into a website www.advanced-television.com.
The company also launched CD-info, Europe's
only independent CD-i focused newsletter. CD-info
morphed into CD-i Professional Applications
then was relaunched in 1997 as DVD-Intelligence
to cover the new format from its inception. The newsletter has now
been transformed into www.dvd-intelligence.com, the premier source
of news, data and analysis for the DVD professionals in Europe.
Globalcom Publications produces the
annual DVD Primer – now in its 8th
year – the highly successful information resource for executives
active in the European DVD industry.
The
team
Globalcom
Ltd founder and managing director is Swiss-born Jean-Luc
Renaud. He has been involved in various aspects of the
new media industry for over 25 years. After graduate studies at
the universities of Lausanne and Geneva, he went to the United States
where he spent seven years, earning a doctorate in media economics
from Michigan State University as well as teaching and doing consulting
work.
Jean-Luc spent a year at the European Institute
for the Media in Manchester where he co-authored The
Future of the European Audiovisual Industry. He was
then recruited as a senior consultant by Logica, the UK's largest
independent IT company. In 1991, he set up Globalcom Ltd, where
he continued to carry out consultancy assignments and develop the
company's publishing activities to which he now devotes most of
his time. In 2004, Jean-Luc launched the annual Film-to-DVD Seminar.
He had been chairing and organising the DVD Europe 2001 and 2002
conferences in London.
Tokyo-born Megumi Komiya has been an international
telecom/media consultant for over 15 years before joining Globalcom.
She earned a PhD in the USA where she lived eight years lecturing
and consulting in the areas of telecom eonomics and IT & media
policy. Moving to Europe, Meg was recruited as Head of Strategic
Research at Nomura Research Institute Europe in London.
Now at Globalcom, Meg is Feature & Special Report Editor as
well as heading the research division which she has established,
providing analysis for the company's publications portfolio.
PURCHASING,
SECURITY & PRIVACY
Credit cards We accept payment
by all major credit cards. If you are shopping from outside
the UK, place your order and your credit card company will convert
the transaction to your own currency. We do not charge for any
item until it is ready to ship. Back-ordered items are not charged
until they are shipped. You may send your credit card information
via phone, fax, snail mail or over the Internet.
Credit Card Security All credit card numbers are
encrypted in the software when the order is placed using 128 bit
encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer.
They are not held in clear text on any web site. We know of
no documented occurences of fraud using this method of payment transfer.
Shipping and Handling The price of most orders
is inclusive of shipping and handling charges. In the event
of bulkier items being purchased from us we will always contact
you and indicate the shipping method to be used and the cost before
shipping to you.
Delivery Schedule We will normally send your order
to you with 48 hours. International orders are generally received
in under 10 days.
Back Orders If your item is not in stock, we
will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the
option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
Tax Charges For orders made from the UK, 17.5%
VAT is added, with the exception of subscriptions, books and other
publications orders which are VAT zero-rated.
Privacy Policy Globalcom Publications does not disclose
subscribers' or buyers' information to third parties. Cookies
are used on this site, but only to keep track of the contents of
your shopping cart once you have selected an item, to store
delivery addresses if the address book is used and to store your
details if you select the 'Remember Me' Option.
Returns Policy We apply a 10 day 'cooling off'
period to products purchased via our shopping area. Within this
time you can return the item if it is damaged or if it is not what
you expected, as long it is returned in a condition suitable
for resale, for a full refund excluding return delivery charges.
Subscription fees are non refundable once a subscriber Password
and username have been issued.
