German homevid conference reaches out
to world community
The
9th annual Home Entertainment Summit, to date known as DVD Entertainment,
the two-day must-attend conference serving the German market held
every year in Munich, is reaching out to the international community
this year by providing simultaneous English translation.
To be held on 22-23 October in Munich, the event has a new name, Video
Entertainment 2008, to capture a more internationally orientated remit.
"Many people from the whole of Europe told us that they had been
thinking about attending our conference but they didn't because the
event was in German language only," says Andreas Stumptner, Chief
Editor of trade magazine VIDEOMARKT, whose publishing house Entertainment
Media is organising the event. "Many told us the European industry
needs more opportunities for meeting and networking. This year we're
going to offer simultaneous translation for the first time and we
will be lining up more international speakers for keynotes and panels.”
“This year’s hot topics will be the growing and diversifying
digital media marketplace, Blu-ray on its way to mass market, 3-D
technology for home entertainment, HD VOD and a high-flyer super session
with participants from all parts of the German and European industry,”
adds Stumptner.
Video Entertainment, year on year, attracts more than 500 attendees
from DVD suppliers, replicators, packaging companies, authoring studios,
retailers and rentailers, PR agencies and other related industries.
Traditionally, the event closes with the glamorous Champions Night
where the DVD Champion Awards is given to the best performing products
and companies in the home entertainment business.
